Eva started developing her work as a health professional when she trained as a registered nurse, becoming a skilled theatre nurse, working in high pressure environments, taking her patients through the often challenging and stressful process of pre to post op with care, support and professionalism.
She brought these skills and abilities to her next career development when she trained and worked in holistic therapies, training in several different aspects of therapeutic, deep tissue massage, manual lymphatic drainage massage and hopi ear candles.
Therapeutic Massage
A Therapeutic Massage is a deep, thorough massage which uses various different strokes and pressures to manually work deep into the muscles of the back, legs, shoulders and neck. This in turn can alleviate aches and pains, improve blood circulation, soothe or stimulate the nervous system and relieve muscular tension.
Whether you are working in an office, using a computer all day; working physically outdoors, in all weathers; if you are a driver, travelling and sitting for many hours, your body will most definitely welcome having its muscles released and the tension reduced. We all build up stresses and strains throughout the day in what we do and through the lives that we lead. Therefore, it is good management and positive preventative care to give ourselves the attention we need to reduce stiffness and maintain good, easy posture and flexibility.
Massage can be of benefit to the very young through to the active aged, it can help us recover from illness and keep us active in our sports and activities of choice.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage has been a particularly Big Hit at Loudoun Osteopaths as this type of massage is a vitally important part of our work with our patients with ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Post Viral Syndrome. Eva works in conjunction with Isla and Marta to ensure that these patients with very specific lymphatic issues get the maximum input to revamp and revitalise their challenged nervous and lymphatic systems. This massage is also helpful with many other conditions and Eva, with her training and background in manual lymphatic drainage, has become an invaluable part of our therapeutic team.
This more specific massage technique helps to improve the function of the lymphatic system and works by gentle, rhythmical movements of the skin which encourages waste, toxic products and excess fluids to be removed from the body’s tissues. A well-functioning lymphatic system plays an essential part in the body’s immune system and can help with a variety of conditions such as headaches, allergies, fatigue and tiredness, sinus issues, swollen ankles, heavy legs, lymphedema, M.E., and inflammation, whilst promoting a general feeling of well-being, relaxation and vitality.
The gentleness of this massage should not under-estimate its effectiveness in improving one’s overall health. The lymphatic system, essential for draining toxins does not have a pump like the heart, therefore this type of massage fully promotes this function, bringing the body back to harmony and balance, whilst improving the immune system.
The main principles behind this work is to clear the areas where the lymphatics are most congested, which are often, though not exclusively the sinuses, throat, upper back and chest. Once the lymph in these areas is moving better the overall lymphatic system has a better chance of clearing any backlog and functioning normally.
Hopi Ear Candles with Facial, Ear, Nose and Throat Lymphatic Drainage Massage
This is an extremely soothing and relaxing treatment using Hopi Ear Candles. These candles made of natural beeswax, are gently inserted in the ear channel and work like a chimney drawing impurities to the surface. This is then followed by a Facial, Ear, Nose and Throat Lymphatic Drainage Massage to further enhance the effects of the candles and support the removal of congestion.
This treatment can help alleviate sinus congestion, compacted ear wax, tinnitus, sinus headaches and pain/pressure from flying. It can also help achieve clearer thinking and concentration.
